Infrastructure
Our services are based upon the proven technology
of the Aastra (previously Nortel) CVX 1800 high-performance
carrier-class access switches. These units provide
up to 2688 ports per shelf and acheive in excess
of 98.5% connection success.
Calls are routed to CVX ports in a round-robin
distribution so that switches are loaded evenly.
After clear down of a call, the port is removed
from
service and undergoes a self-test before being
returned to the available pool. This ensures
the highest possible reliability of service.
Our datacentres are interconnected via dual
redundant dark-fibre network rings and maintain
connectivity to the internet via a minimum of
three
distinct paths via a minimum of three different
Tier 1 and Tier 2 carriers at all times. We
also maintain peering agreements which ensure
low hop counts to our networks from around the
world.
A combination of the CVX's ability to provide
sustained 100% throughput and our internet bandwith
capabilities mean that we are able to provide
a truly
'uncontended' internet connection. Each dial-up
user gets the maximum possible bandwidth from
their connection, even at peak times; this makes
our service the best available.
